WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT 101 OF (M T I) Starting an environmental management system may be an issue in itself. Environmental management systems identify inefficiencies and environmental problems in every department within a business. Management may be hesitant about starting a system that can uncover inefficiencies and require change to the corporate culture. Employees will require training to change routines and procedures when new methods of doing business are put into place. Waste management encompasses all forms of waste, from garbage to gases.Employees and other stakeholders must be willing participants. Stakeholder participation is perhaps one of the greatest challenges of environmental management. Without stakeholder buy-in, environmental initiatives will likely fail. Stakeholders include anyone who has a stake in the organization's success and is not limited to shareholders. Employees, customers and even the local community are all stakeholders, and their participation is key to the success of any environmental management initiative
